Last July, the beloved playground of our busy neighborhood park was burned down, just a week after we had a photo shoot on their swing set and slides.
Since then, the Sacramento community has rallied to raise funds, and dozens of local businesses like us have pitched in to help. We donated profits from the sale of our Cali Love onesies and tees, raising $120 for the East Sacramento landmark. Every little bit helps!
Well the time has finally come for the reconstruction! After over 1,000 local children submitted their ideas and were interviewed, Play By Design has put together a wonderful plan, including a rock wall, steam boat and trolley. From June 3 through 9, residents are coming together to lend a hand at bringing the dream playground to life.
Ana Apple and crew will proudly be joining the efforts in two ways:
- We’re picking up a shift at the construction site on Thursday afternoon. Ready to get sweaty for a good cause, meet fellow members of our awesome community, and help get this dream playground built! If you’d like to join us on Thursday, June 6 from 5-8:30pm, please leave a comment so that we can let them know how many of us will be coming to help!
- We’re pledging $8 from every Cali Love Onesie or Tee and $4 from every Cali Love Bib sold until June 9 to Rebuild McKinley! If you’re local, visit us at the GOOD: street food + design market on Sunday or visit our downtown studio. Otherwise, get your gear online! Bonus Points: If you’d like to sponsor a Cali Love Tee, we’ll donate the garments to The Mustard Seed School, one of our favorite local organizations that helps homeless children receive an education. Just let us know and we’ll include your name in the gift card!
Ana Apple has grown a lot since last summer, and so has our commitment to community. We’re grateful for the support Sacramento has shown our small business with a big vision, and are happy for the opportunity to return the favor. See you next week, 916!
